The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

Maternal Newborn Unit

We offer services to our obstetrical patients as well as antepartum and postpartum care.  Typical hospital stays for those with uncomplicated vaginal deliveries is 24 hours, and 48 hours for those with cesarean sections. We offer a Child Birth 101 class during the 3rd trimester of your pregnancy. You can sign up at the OB clinic. We highly encourage attendance if this is your first baby or your first delivery here in Misawa.

Patient Instructions

Bleeding:

  • Less than 20 weeks: Please call Labor & Delivery or report to the UCC
  • Less than 20 weeks: Please call the OB clinic, or report to the UCC
  • Greater than 20 weeks: Please come straight to Labor & Delivery Fetal Kick Counts
  • Greater than 20 weeks: Please call, or report to the Labor & Delivery Department

Fetal Kick Counts:

  • Please call or come to Labor & Delivery if you are not meeting kick counts (10 kicks in 2 hours)
  • Please call, or come to Labor & Delivery if you are not meeting kick counts after 26 – 28 weeks gestation (10 kicks in 2 hours)

Labor Precautions:

  • If you are having contractions 3-5 minutes apart for 2 hours or have any questions and are unsure, please call Labor & Delivery

Leakage of Fluid:

  • If you are leaking fluid or are unsure, please call Labor & Delivery

Visitor Guidelines

We do not allow visitors with children under the age of 12, for the protection of our newborns. Siblings are allowed during the visiting hours, but must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
